COLUMBIA — An associate pastor at Broadway Christian Church was arrested Friday evening for stealing mayoral campaign signs supporting Blair Murphy. Broadway Christian Church released a statement after Peck's arrest, stating that he has been placed on administrative leave. According to a probable cause statement, the Boone County Sheriff's Office arrested Taylor-Peck around 5:30 p.m. Friday near Coastal Electric on Scott Boulevard.

It has been less than six months since former Columbia Public Schools superintendent Brian Yearwood agreed to "retire" in a move that netted the administrator more than $600,000. Yet since his departure from the district, Yearwood has now been a finalist in two separate searches for a new superintendent. The Christina School District in northern Delaware announced Friday that Yearwood is one of three finalists for its superintendent vacancy.

By Christian Riley Dutcher,Jacob Richey PILOT GROVE - No casualties to people or livestock have been reported after a tornado struck Cooper County before 9 a.m. Wednesday, officials told KOMU 8 News. The National Weather Service confirmed Wednesday afternoon the tornado was an EF-2. The tornado tracked 6.3 miles and was 200 yards at its widest point. Estimated peak winds were 150 mph. The tornado started at 8:34 a.m. and lasted until 8:40 p.m.

River Region Credit Union has officially acquired Missouri Credit Union. Missouri Credit Union members voted to approve the acquisition, according to a news release, which became official Tuesday. River Region is now shifting its focus to folding Missouri Credit Union's assets into its portfolio. It plans to complete merging all systems and services by Nov. 1.

The Missouri National Guard was activated Wednesday to assist with response efforts for ongoing and forecast severe storms in the state. A tornado touched down in Pilot Grove on Wednesday, alongside hail, heavy rains and flash flooding across the state. Gov. Mike Kehoe signed Executive Order 25-21 to activate the guard to assist communities throughout the state in storm recovery over the coming weeks.
