Highlights •Current, recommendations for the management of Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) includes the use of intensive insulin therapy. •During school hours the management of a child's T1D can be largely reliant upon school staff. •Global variations in diabetes support to schools are reported from health professionals, school staff and parents. •Further research is needed to explore the differences between different geographical and rural areas.
