The Kamloops Cancer Supportive Care Society is to looking to facilitate an InspireHealth cancer supportive care centre for Kamloops and area patients. During a presentation to Kamloops City Council on Tuesday, it laid out its objective. Leslie Brochu is the President of the group. She says it is looking to continue to address gaps in services and develop an integrated community navigation network to make it easier for Kamloops and area patients to access Cancer Supportive Care Services.

Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for garbage-can fire starters, following a series of small blazes discovered this weekend. On Monday May 5, 2025, around 12:45 a.m., the Kamloops RCMP Detachment received reports of multiple garbage can fires located on the 300-block of Seymour Street and 500-block of Victoria Street. Police officers patrolled the area for suspects, while Kamloops Fire and Rescue dealt with the flames.

In an effort to encourage more homeowners to fire smart their properties, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District has launched a rebate program. Property owners in Electoral Areas will be eligible for a rebate of up to 50% of the value of the work up to a maximum of $500. Rebates can cover actual costs incurred for mitigation work and/ or costs of labour by the homeowner. TNRD Spokesperson Colton Davies says fire mitigation work must be completed within 1.5 metres of their home.

Kamloops RCMP say that no criminality is suspected in connection with a man who was found dead in a fire earlier this month. A man discovered deceased in a fire on the North Shore is not believed to be the victim of foul play, following a police investigation. Just before 2 a.m. on Monday April 7, emergency personnel responded to a fire on the North Shore at the corner of 8th Street and TranquilleOnce the fire was out it was revealed that there was a deceased man in the fire.

The Kamloops Vintage Car Club is set to host its annual Easter vintage car parade this Sunday, April 20 and organizers are expecting over 100 vehicles to be taking part. Club President Ken Hoshowski says cars that are least 25 years old and in stock condition will be on display at Riverside Park following a drive through the city. “We like to keep our cars in reasonably stock condition. B-C Hydro is putting out a list of proactive tips ahead of the upcoming wildfire season, urging customers to be as prepared as possible for an emergency. A new pilot project has been launched by the Thompson-Nicola Regional District to help people properly dispose of their old books. Starting on Tuesday, April 15, in partnership with Planet Earth Recycling, the TNRD will have book recycling available at both the South Thompson Eco-Depot and the Westwold Transfer Station. Books will be accepted in any condition, free of charge. Planet Earth Recycling will collect all books at these facilities to be sorted for reuse, donation, or recycling.
