The province is urging ranchers and farmers to register the location of their livestock ahead of wildfire season. It says registering with Premises ID will ensure emergency responders have access to accurate information on livestock locations in the event of an emergency. That would allow emergency responders to act quickly during events such as evacuations or disease outbreaks. The ministry says registering for Premises ID is mandatory in B.C., but is both free and confidential.

The Kamloops Cancer Supportive Care Society is to looking to facilitate an InspireHealth cancer supportive care centre for Kamloops and area patients. During a presentation to Kamloops City Council on Tuesday, it laid out its objective. Leslie Brochu is the President of the group. She says it is looking to continue to address gaps in services and develop an integrated community navigation network to make it easier for Kamloops and area patients to access Cancer Supportive Care Services.

Both the City of Kamloops and the Thompson Nicola Regional District are set to test their emergency alert systems. City of KamloopsThe City of Kamloops will issue a city-wide test alert on May 8, 2025, through its emergency notification system, Voyent Alert!. Depending on the type of messaging each individual has registered for, the test alert will go out by SMS text, phone call, email, and notification through the app.

The B.C. Emergency Alert system will be tested at 1:55 p.m. (Pacific time) on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, as part of Emergency Preparedness Week. The test alert will be heard on radio and television broadcasts as well as on your cellphone. The test message to cellphones will read: “This is a TEST of the B.C. Emergency Alert system. This is ONLY a TEST. In an emergency, this message would tell you what to do to stay safe. This information could save your life.
