It marked a fourth straight win for Feeney in the 2025 Supercars Championship and a fourth straight for the Red Bull Ampol Racing driver in Darwin. While he had two Safety Car restarts and a clutch issue to contend with in Race 1 earlier in the day, there were no such challenges in the second heat. Feeney controlled the start from pole position and led every lap, having waited until lap 28 of 42 to complete his compulsory pit stop.

The 42-lap race ended with the top three in the order they started: Feeney from Cam Waters and Matt Payne. But it wasn’t all smooth sailing for Feeney, who later revealed he had battled a clutch issue, while mid-pack incidents resulted in two early Safety Car periods. The chaos kicked off at the opening corner of the race as Jaxon Evans was elbowed wide and into the armco barrier on the exit.

The series was purchased from the Rogers-run Australian Racing Group earlier this year by a trio of competitors, bringing it under one roof with the TA2 Muscle Car Series. Previously run by ARG on the SpeedSeries bill, Trans Am is this year supporting Supercars at its three independently promoted events: Hidden Valley, The Bend and Adelaide.

Championship leader Feeney stormed to back-to-back pole positions as teammate and title rival Will Brown struggled to 14th and 17th in the two sessions. The Race 2 qualifying session was run on the super soft tyres, throwing a curve ball at teams and drivers. It somewhat shook up the order with seven Camaros progressing to Q2, flipping the script after just two made the cut in the earlier soft tyre session.

The Red Bull Ampol Racing driver continued his hot run of form to top both segments of the qualifying session, which was run on the soft compound tyre. Feeney ended the critical Q2 segment fastest on 1:05.9841s, less than a tenth of a second ahead of Tickford Racing’s Cam Waters. “To be honest this weekend hasn’t been too smooth for me,” said Feeney, who won both races at Hidden Valley last year and now has seven poles in 2025.
