Years ago, I attended a popular Catholic women’s conference where a young participant asked one of the presenters for advice on how to pursue a career as a lawyer alongside a vocation to motherhood. She felt called to both. “Maybe some careers aren’t fit for moms,” the presenter proclaimed. The young woman’s face registered shock and defeat at this blunt, unimaginative response. It wasn’t exactly the mentoring support the event had promised for female faith leaders.

Police say several people were injured after a taxi hit pedestrians on a sidewalk near Herald Square around 4 p.m. on Christmas day. A 9-year-old boy, a 41-year-old woman and a 49-year-old woman were sent to local hospitals and are in stable condition, police say. A 58-year-old man was driving a taxi on 6th Avenue when he drove onto the sidewalk, according to the NYPD. NBC New York and CBS News New York report that it’s unclear what led up to the incident, but no charges have been filed.

In it, the cast members gave a shoutout to the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, Pennsylvania. The highly anticipated post-election episode often sets the tone and picks up on some of the news pieces that have marked the election. And the cold open often does so with an unmatched verve.

In a southern Arizona diocese with 77 parishes and 22 schools spread across nine counties and 42,707 square miles of primarily desert land, the local Catholic bishop has opted to drive a fully electric vehicle. "It's a big diocese, so I'm really glad for the 300 mile range. I'm heading out to a Confirmation on Sunday 106 miles away but I have no worries," said Diocese of Tucson Bishop Edward Weisenburger about his new Chevrolet Equinox EV.
