If you don’t have a passport and you still need to get a Real ID for domestic air travel, you will need to keep your feet on the ground on May 7 instead of getting on your flight. As of Wednesday, all U.S. travelers must be Real ID compliant to board domestic flights and access certain federal facilities. If you don’t have a Real ID and plan to fly, here’s what you need to know. First, even if you get an appointment before the May 7 deadline, you will not walk out of the MVC agency with a permanent Real ID license or ID card in your hand as they are mailed to the recipient.
