Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has slammed the US President Donald Trump's move to hit Australian imports with a 10 per cent tariff, declaring it's "not the act of a friend." All of the United States trading partners will be hit with a tariff of least 10 per cent, with some countries slugged with a much higher rate. The Opposition Leader Peter Dutton says the Prime Minister is flailing and doesn't know how to respond, but Mr Albanese argues he'll keep fighting for Australia's interests.

There's hope for another minimum wage increase after the election, with both major parties and leading business groups in favour of a pay boost. Businesses say they can't afford any increase above the inflation rate though, something Labor says it will push for. But it will be up to the Fair Work Commission to make the final call, but it's been a big talking point as the campaign continues.

Woolworths has hit back at new data that shows the prices of some groceries have gone up at their stores, but down at Coles. A report by consumer group Choice has found the prices of 14 common grocery items increased by 3.7% at Woolworths between March and December last year, but shrunk by 2.5% at Coles. The report has divided experts, some saying there's not much more that can be done, others saying governments need to step in to boost competition.
