There's been some consolation for the Coalition after its thumping election defeat, with Liberal MP Tim Wilson reclaiming the Victorian seat of Goldstein. His win makes Zoe Daniel the first so-called "teal" independent to lose their seat since coming to power in 2022. Peter Dutton's historic defeat leaves the Coalition without a leader and a new MP in his Queensland seat of Dickson for the first time in 24 years. The party faithful were reeling as the results rolled in at the Coalition's election night party in Brisbane's CBD.
