    PITTSBURGH — You’ll need your winter coat all day long on Tuesday, as highs will only make it to the upper 30s. Gusty winds will keep wind chills in the 20s through the day. There will be a chance for flurries or a few snow showers in the area through the day as well. Temperatures stay below average through the week, but highs will get back to the 40s and 50s. The next chance for rain will arrive Thursday, bringing a wet end to the work week. Make sure to check the latest forecast on Channel 11 News.

    PITTSBURGH — Several rounds of wet weather will impact your plans this week, with the first moving in early Tuesday. Showers arrive before sunrise and continue off and on through the morning keeping roads wet and slowing the morning commute. Most of the rain will wrap up around noon with a few showers possible during the evening. The next system brings showers back into the area Wednesday afternoon with showers continuing through part of the day Thursday.

    LOS ANGELES — The deadly wildfires in California are being fueled by fierce winds blowing from the interior parts of California towards the coast. Known as Santa Ana winds, these dry, warm and gusty northeast winds flow opposite traditional onshore winds which carry moisture from the Pacific. High pressure helps get the winds started and as the winds sink over the mountains they dry out and speed up, much like a slow-moving river being squeezed through the mountains.

    ETNA, Pa. — Twenty years after Hurricane Ivan, Allegheny County emergency rescue crews are better prepared today for a flood than ever before. As a result of the fast-moving storm, the county established a specially-trained swiftwater/flood response team. It’s made up of local fire and EMS departments, including Pittsburgh River Rescue and volunteer fire departments from communities including Blawnox, Tarentum and Etna.
