MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Marquette Maritime Museum invited kids to celebrate Art Week at the lighthouse on Monday. The City of Marquette is celebrating Art Week all this week. It’s a chance for residents to engage with the arts through various performances, exhibits, and activities. Kids got in on the action Monday by painting the Lake Superior shoreline at the Maritime Museum’s Plein Air Workshop.

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Mariucci Family Beacon House is hosting a grilling competition to raise money this week. The home is hosting its 4th annual Grill & Chill fundraiser on Thursday. The theme is once again a Night in Nashville. There’ll be a grill master competition, bourbon tasting, and celebrity appearances with Steve Mariucci and Tom Izzo expected to attend again this year.

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - With warmer weather coming to the U.P. this weekend, some people may be putting their boats in the water between thunderstorms. The DNR wants to remind boaters not to let any invasive species hitch a ride to U.P. waters on their boats. The DNR says boaters should make sure their boats and trailers are clear of any mud, plants, or debris before putting them in the water.

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Marquette Care Clinic is walking for a cause this weekend. The clinic is hosting its annual Life Walk on Saturday. Participants gather pledges for their walk to raise money for the clinic’s daily operations. The money will be used to help support new and expecting parents. Organizers say the nonprofit relies heavily on donations from the community, so it hopes to raise $30,000 from the event.

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Kids in Marquette had a chance to learn about classical music and instruments on Tuesday. The Bergonzi Trio played a free children’s concert at the Peter White Public Library as part of the Pine Mountain Music Festival. The group taught kids about their instruments and how small changes in tempo and articulation can make drastic changes in music. Festival organizers say there are still a few chances to enjoy performances before the festival ends.
