Background: The district had initially presented a preliminary budget with a 4% tax increase, but during a public work session May 5, the board requested a lower rate of 3.25%.

When: Cocalico school board meeting, April 28. What happened: Sherri Stull, the district’s business manager, told the board her office is recommending a minimum tax increase of 2.95% for the 2025-26 school year to help close the budget deficit which has widened in recent years. Despite making over $2 million worth of significant reductions in expenditures for the preliminary budget, Stull said a tax hike will still be necessary to increase revenue.
