    Schools across the country may learn this fall what many already suspect: many current AI integration policies, no matter how thoughtfully designed, can't solve the fundamental tension between giving students access to AI while expecting them not to use it in ways outside the scope of our intentions. While outright AI bans are impractical, the prevailing "selective use" policies may not turn out to be the solution.

    Justin Reich is an edtech researcher at MIT. His book, Failure to Disrupt, landed just as the pandemic was in full swing. He argued persuasively that educational technologies rarely achieve massive change and, if they do have a sizeable impact, it usually happens more slowly than the “tech of the month” hype cycle predicts.

    Congratulations to Martin Avons, Ben Price, and Reuben Judge who are the Angling Trust Tronix Pro Species Hunt champions for 2023-24. Starting in April 2023 and running until the end of March this year, this fun, friendly competition is open to all and challenges anglers to catch as many different fish species as possible from the shore. The competition is split into three leagues with tables for Seniors, Juniors, and Elite anglers – selected from the top 30 anglers the previous season.

    Angling Trust England Ladies manager Dave Brooks has selected one of the strongest line ups of anglers ever assembled for the 2024 Ladies Coarse World Champs, following his assessment day at Makins last weekend. Retaining their places from last year’s squad are reigning World Champion Helen Dagnall, plus Samantha Sim, Kayleigh Dowd, May Potter, and Leanne Knott.
