Three weeks before his scheduled official visit to the Starkville campus, Kolby Barrett decided he couldn't wait that long before committing to Mississippi State University's football program. The Baylor School safety, a three-star recruit with his final prep season still ahead, announced his commitment Saturday to the Bulldogs, choosing the Southeastern Conference program over multiple other power conference teams, including Georgia Tech, Purdue, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.

After six years as head coach of the Cleveland High School boys' basketball program, Reggie Tucker will no longer fill that role at his alma mater. Tucker said he was informed Thursday that his contract would not be renewed for another season. "I was totally blindsided," Tucker, a 1993 graduate of the school and a former point guard for the Blue Raiders, told the Times Free Press on Friday. "I was disappointed with how it was handled.
