Like we predicted last week, our betting panel stayed hot with our anonymous swing coach, reporting from the grounds of Augusta National, nailing Rory McIlroy (+650) at the Masters! He’s now predicted Rory’s wins at the Players and the Masters. We’ll be paying close attention to the rest of his major picks this year. There’s no Rory in the field this week, but we do have the rest of the PGA Tour’s elite for the RBC Heritage.

Before we bury the guy, let’s take a minute to appreciate Ludvig Aberg. In just his second Masters, the Swede had a chance to win again on the final nine holes on Sunday. Aberg found himself in a three-way tie for the lead after Rory McIlroy’s double bogey-bogey stretch on 13 and 14. After Aberg birdied 15, he would’ve needed just one more birdie on his final three holes to join McIlroy and Justin Rose in the playoff. That’s heady stuff at a course where experience usually matters so much.

Only an hour into the leaders being on the course on Saturday, all the build-up of how historic this weekend at Augusta National might be proved true very quickly. In fact, the opening hour will go down as one of the most memorable in recent weekend rounds of the Masters. All the pressure seemingly had to be on Rory McIlroy, he of career Grand Slam aspirations. To that, his start continues to break records.

It’s an absolutely stacked leader board heading into the weekend of the 2025 Masters—Rory, Bryson, Scottie … you will be surprised to hear the name that has officials at one Las Vegas sportsbook most nervous. Some casual golf fans might not be familiar with Matt McCarty, but there’s at least one believer in the Masters debutant, apparently.

It might surprise some people that Augusta National is not the top-ranked course in America. It has earned the No. 1 spot before—three times in our ranking’s history, the last time being 2015. Most times, Augusta National has been ranked second in our ranking of America’s 100 Greatest Courses list. Though the home of the Masters is the most famous course in the U.S., it’s Pine Valley Golf Club in southwest New Jersey that owns the top spot in our ranking most often.

Rory McIlroy on Philly Cricket Club: "I just realized that these new renovated old-school courses, like the strategy is just hit driver everywhere and then figure it out from there." https://t.co/XFQ60jWK7c
