Dear Editor,An interesting and informative article that needs wider circulation. As the father of a qualified Dr who is currently training as an anaesthetist, and as someone who will have an increasing demand on the NHS as I age, the proposition of anaesthetic associates is yet another ill-thought-out short-term measure in our increasingly failing health system. It's long overdue that we had a SofS for Health who had some background or (at least) qualification in a medical discipline.
