1 Introduction Tide gauge measurements of coastal sea level represent some of the longest persistent oceanographic records, some of which exceed 100 years in length (e.g., at Charleston, SC; Hogarth (2014); Talke et al. (2018)). Individually, these records reveal disparate patterns of regional sea level change across a range of timescales (Thompson & Mitchum, 2014; Woodworth et al., 2019), but together, show global mean sea level to be rising at an increasing rate (Frederikse et al., 2020).
