    Hundreds of residents, family members and fellow officers packed the Rayne Civic Center on Monday to mourn the death of Rayne police Lt. Allen "Noochie" Credeur. Credeur, 47, died May 5 after another police officer shot him after responding to a called related to a stabbing. The fallen officer provided over 20 years of service to his city and played an active role in his community, said Rayne Police Chief Carroll Stelly during Credeur's funeral Mass.

    Opelousas police are investigating a Saturday shooting that left one person injured. The victim, Kendrell Hicks, sustained non-life threatening injuries after being struck by gunfire Saturday around 12:20 a.m. in the 1000 block of East South Street, according to a Opelousas Police Department announcement.  Police made contact with Hicks at a local hospital. Upon arrival, police discovered that two unknown male subjects approached Hicks before the shooting occurred.

    Jennings police arrested a man after he allegedly spoke inappropriately to and attempted to meet up with what he believed was a 15-year-old girl. David Bruce Reinhardt III, 51, faces one count of computer-aided solicitation of a minor, according to a Jennings Police Department announcement. On May 8, Jennings police conducted an undercover operation using social media when detectives were told that Reinhardt allegedly had inappropriate contact with a juvenile.

    Crowley police arrested a man for alleged sex crimes involving juveniles and rape. Karl Cormier, 57, was arrested on Friday and faces two counts of first-degree rape, three counts of molestation of a juvenile and one count pornography involving juvenile, according to a Crowley Police Department announcement. Police officially began their investigation into Cormier back in September. Officers were collecting interviews and evidence against Cormier prior to the investigation, the announcement said.

    The widow of a slain Lafayette officer urged Louisiana House members on Thursday to implement a law that would force habitual offense to serve out more of their sentence. Almost a year after her husband, Lafayette Police officer, Senior Cpl. Segus Jolivette, was killed during an alleged hostage situation involving a felon with a history of early releases, Alexis Jolivette teared up as a she asked lawmakers to support House Bill 11 — the Segus Jolivette Act.
