From November last year, Faith Chesang, a grocery seller from Turbo in Uasin Gishu County, has been in remand at the women’s prison for allegedly neglecting her two-year-old daughter. The 23-year-old faced charges of infringing child rights to healthcare, an offence she denied until recently when she was acquitted. Her husband, who was found guilty is serving five years in the Eldoret Main Prison.

SportsThe construction of the historic Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret, which has been under construction for over a decade, has once again stalled. It is among stadiums that are being upgraded to international standards ahead of the 2027 African Cup of Nations. The last major event to have been staged at the stadium named after Kenya’s father of track racing, 1968 Olympic 1500m champion Kipchoge Keino, was the national trials for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

When he finished second at the 2024 Eldoret City Marathon, Felix Kipsang Mutai was a little-known athlete. Mutai was closely behind three-time champion Victor Kipchirchir. But Mutai is returning to the streets of Eldoret for the 2025 edition set for April 27, with a keen eye on clinching victory. Mutai, who comes from Burnt Forest in Uasin Gishu and trains in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County says he is coming back to the race that made him a star.
