Eligible whistleblowers are also entitled to a monetary award in the event the Securities and Exchange Committee (SEC) succeeds in obtaining a monetary order in a judicial or administrative enforcement action.

A deal was announced Saturday morning on the “Keeping Nurses at the Bedside Act,” a plan to address the working conditions of direct care nurses in hospitals and the related staffing shortages seen statewide.

If you walk into a bathroom at any school in Minnesota, you’re sure to find the standard hygiene equipment — hand soap, paper towels, toilet paper. If HF44 were to become law, you could add another item to that list: menstrual products.
Rep. Sandra Feist (DFL-New Brighton), the bill sponsor, said this addition is long overdue.
“The impact of period poverty on students’ ability to really get a full education in Minnesota” is beyond dispute, she said.

Passed in 2014, the Women’s Economic Security Act provides a profusion of accommodations for nursing and pregnant employees in the workplace.
Updates to this legislation may now be around the corner.
The House passed HF1104, as amended, 70-58 Thursday evening following an impassioned debate. The bill, which would expand protections for workers effective Jan. 1, 2024, now heads to the Senate.

The education finance and policy agreement returned from conference committee has House DFLers ecstatic.

Those were the words of DFLers at Saturday’s close of the education finance and policy bill conference committee.
Following adoption of the final articles, as amended, of HF2497, the state is on track to appropriate $2.26 billion in new education spending during the 2024-25 biennium, a 10.8% increase over base. Once crafted, a conference committee report will be sent to both chambers for final approval.
