Three Friday Nights is under way for another summer at Goodwood – and the 2025 series off to a flying start with a DJ set by Groove Armada following six races starring apprentice jockeys. The 3FN seires has become a firm favourite on the Goodwood calendar since being launched in 2011 and this year’s trio of events look set to live up to expectations. Groove Armada set the bar high for 2025 with a set of music and lights that the large crowd loved – that after an entertaining evening’s racing.

Petworth Park Cricket Club will mark a remarkable milestone on Sunday (June 8) when they host the MCC to celebrate 150 years of sport at Petworth Park Sports Ground. A Chairman’s XI, led by club chairman Alex Rees, will take the field for Petworth Park CC to honour an extraordinary local sporting legacy dating back to 1875, when the ground was first established on the southern edge of Petworth House’s deer park.

Eleven members of Heart and Sole Runners took on the epic challenge of the Run to the Sea Ultra Marathon, starting in Horsham and ending on the Hove seafront. The first half of the course was flat and shaded to kick-start the day – then the elevation of the South Downs really stepped up the endurance. Breathtaking views kept them going on the 31 miles (50k), as did the knowledge of the fundraising they were undertaking for #DoItForJosh charity.

Hastings Priory CC head into a clash with one of their big promotion rivals tomorrow buoyed by a third straight win last weekend. Saturday’s visit to West Chiltington is a game between two of the favourites to win promotion from Division 2 of the Sussex League this year – but Harry Scowen’s side head west in good form. It’s a third v second clash with Chilt and Hastings nestled behind leaders Eastbourne, who are the only side with a 100 per cent record after four rounds of league games.

Tom Haines is set for another chance to impress the England selectors – after taking his first opportunity in style with a knock of 174 against India A. The Sussex opening batsman is in the England Lions squad who are playing two four-day games against the touring team. Last weekend Haines scored 171 off 279 balls in the first match at Canterbury, striking 19 hours in his eight-hour stay at the crease.
