Eight area athletes earned individual championships at the 2024-25 Tri-Eastern Conference Middle School wrestling meet in Centerville on March 13. Five Union County Patriots, eighth graders Cayden Serra (144 lbs.) and Bronson Ferris (190 lbs.), seventh graders Waylon Brown (85 lbs.) and Zach Gentry (106 lbs.), and sixth grader Blake Helms (90 lbs.) earned conference championships in their respective weight classes.

The Connersville High School 2024-25 winter sports awards will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the Robert E. Wise Center for Performing Arts. Connersville senior Harley Morris earned her third Conference MVP award and claimed All-Conference status at the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference meet at East Central on Jan. 13. Morris took first place in the 200 and 500-Yard Freestyle races in 2:03.14 and 5:26.82 respectively.

The Connersville Spartan and Franklin County Wildcat track and field teams opened the 2025 indoor season at the Blue and White Relays hosted by Hamilton Southeastern and Anderson University on Saturday. Franklin County senior Emma Rosenberger took first place in the Girls Pole Vault at 9’ 6”. Senior Ella Flannery finished second in the Girls High Jump at 5’ 2” for Franklin County. Connersville junior Ahniyah Bennett took third place in the Girls 60-Meter Dash in 7.82.

Five area middle school athletes claimed conference titles at the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference Middle School Wrestling Championships at Franklin County High School on Saturday. The host Wildcats earned EIAC titles in the 95, 113, and 215 lbs. weight classes from seventh grader Lane Seale, and eighth graders Dylan Bolser, and Tristian Clark respectively. Connersville eighth graders Lucas Rowland (150 lbs.) and Jeff Powell (175 lbs.) claimed conference championships for the Spartans.

The Connersville Spartan boys basketball team concluded their season at 10-15 following a 61-41 Indiana High School Athletic Association Class 3A Sectional 24 tournament loss to the New Castle Trojans in New Castle on Friday night. New Castle took an early lead with a 19-8 run in the first quarter. “There's an old cliche,” Connersville Head Coach Dave McCollough said. “You got to go out and you got to hit him first, and [New Castle] did.
