People across Merseyside and beyond are marking VE Day, 80 years on from the declaration of peace in mainland Europe. There will be a two-minute national silence at noon, as well as commemoration events and street parties across the UK. Celebrations got underway on Sunday throughout Merseyside including a parade through Liverpool city centre as hundreds lined the streets. With today marking the official anniversary, a whole host of events are taking place across the wider city region.
