    Much of the Northern Lakes League softball schedule still remains to be played, but the Clay Eagles got an important step up in the league's Cardinal Division race Thursday night with an impressive 9-5 victory at Springfield. The win gave the Eagles (10-3, 5-2 NLL) a season sweep of the defending champion Blue Devils (10-6, 5-3), who were preseason favorites to repeat their title this year. Springfield was edged 8-7 at Clay last Friday.
