A veteran educator from Clay County has reached one of the final levels of a national contest to be named America’s Favorite Teacher through online voting. Tracy Johnston, who teaches second grade at Thunderbolt Elementary School, has already survived five rounds of balloting since February to reach the quarterfinals of the fundraising contest, reported to have started with as many as 80,000 entrants. “It’s really amazing,” Johnston said.
