My relationship with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) franchise and love for it can be counted in the many (No, seriously it’s a lot.) quarters I willingly proffered up for the chance to play as one of my favorite titular mutants (That would be Donatello.) for just a few minutes more. What’s strange is that I’ve engaged with TMNT through every medium except comic books, and I’m the proud owner of an entire room dedicated just to comic books.

LAKESIDE, Calif — The brand new Dianne Jacob Lakeside Equestrian Park is about to hold one of its first big events. But neighbors say it focuses more on horsepower than horses, and that has them concerned about the safety of their animals. It's called Monster Truck Wars and their own Facebook page describes it as "earth-shaking, ground-pounding, high-flying excitement". Two shows are scheduled to take place at the equestrian park next month.

SAN DIEGO — With hundreds of responses to our CBS 8 Streets Survey, it's becoming clear that roads across San Diego County are a major source of frustration. Based on results through Monday, 88% of you say streets in your neighborhood are worse today than a year ago. The words we heard most often included “terrible”, “horrible”, and “bad” with Clairemont, Mira Mesa and Rancho Penasquitos leading the way for the most complaints. “They're brutal now,” said Encanto resident Tyler Kelpin.

SAN DIEGO — According to a new audit, streets in the City of San Diego are facing a $1.2 billion backlog on deferred maintenance. And mechanics say those unfilled potholes are causing damage that can cost drivers thousands of dollars to repair. “We find that we need to do a lot of wheel alignments because of bent front end parts,” said Ray Frey, who owns an auto repair shop in Kearny Mesa. He said cars regularly come into his business after hitting potholes.
