    Graduating Oasis Academy College Prep students received invaluable advice at their May 21 graduation from their guest speakers and valedictorians. Oasis Academy conducted its evening graduation ceremony at the Oats Park Arts Center Barkley Theatre. Earlier in the day, students received their diplomas and certificates from Western Nevada College. District Court Judge Tom Stockard, this year’s graduation speaker, presented the subject of books based on a question recently asked of him.

    The new executive director of the Churchill Arts Council gave an update on the late spring and summer events at a recent Fallon Rotary Club meeting. Robyn Jordan has been in her role for two months, working on the final three months of the 2024-25 season while planning ahead for the new arts season that begins in August. Jordan said she loves the community’s support for the arts and commended the Rotarians for their volunteerism and interest in the arts.

    Two students from western Nevada are this year’s recipients of $500 scholarships that were presented on May 7 by the Navy League’s Carson City Council. Navy League member Wayne Baker introduced each instructor and cadet and presented the scholarship checks along with Donna Brand. Noah Ciminski, a senior at Carson High School, and Keileene Kato, a senior at Churchill County High School, received their scholarships at the Navy League’s spring meeting.
