Reno, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — The Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners is expected approve a settlement for a Reno gynecologist accused of several malpractice complaints since 2022. That hearing is Friday at the Board's office in south Reno. Dr. Samuel Chacon's medical license was suspended in 2023 stemming from a case where he was accused of treating a pregnant woman who was high-risk.

VIRGINIA CITY, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — One of the women accused and charged with locking a 14-year-old boy in a room for a year-and-a-half near Virginia City said they didn't have any other choice. The situation came to light after a community member requested a welfare check from the Storey County Deputies. Investigators reported finding the boy without access to food and water at free will and forced to use a bucket for a toilet.

SPARKS, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — A serious crash has partially shut down Vista Boulevard at Golden Triangle in Sparks, north of Los Altos Parkway on Friday afternoon. One lane is open in each direction on Vista Boulevard between Vista Del Rancho and Wingfield Hills as of 3:20 p.m.There is no estimated time of reopening for the closure. Police are asking people to avoid the area. The crash occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. on May 30.

Nye County, Nevada — A Nevada judge has handed down a unique sentence to Samantha Rapozo, a woman who killed her friend and injured four others and herself, in a 2019 crash while under the influence of marijuana. The sentencing comes after a lengthy legal process that began with the crash in December 2019. Nye County District Judge Kimberly Wanker expressed her struggle in deciding the appropriate sentence for Rapozo, who was wheeled into the courtroom to hear her fate April 8, 2025.
