The Forgotten Coast Homeschool Co-op (FCHC) recently completed a community service project focused on encouraging literacy and a love for reading, according to Jennifer Counce, the school’s director. As part of the middle school class, students worked together to build and install a free little library, a small structure that functions as a free book exchange, accessible to community members of all ages, fostering a passion for reading and continuous learning.

Parking alongside Hudson Park was filled almost to capacity long before the official 9 a.m. start to the Department of Health- Wakulla County Fun Family Day health fair, where attendees could visit and learn about how to maximize their health from more than 15 different booths, as well as participate in games, raffles and order food and beverages from food trucks.

At the same time the Department of Health-Wakulla County was hosting its annual family fun day health fair in Hudson Park, not too far away the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Department was conducting its bi-annual “Take Back Drugs Day” event. Held in the spring and in the fall, Take Back Drugs Day is a nationwide program that enables people who have unused and/or expired medications and drugs to safely deposit those at facilities under the direction of local, county and state law enforcement agencies.
