As it's been such a strong year for albums, then it should follow that there's also been such a multitude of fantastic live events too, and the list below proves this. It could honestly have been a Top 30 this year, such was the high standard, but I've somehow narrowed it down to just the 10. And next year is shaping up to be one of the best already too, as much as there is to be sad about the live scene (ticket prices, venues closing etc), we should enjoy what we have. 10.

December feels like the perfect time for a touch of nostalgia and what better way is there to feel festive than to look back towards childhood, which is where we find ourselves this evening with a trio of 80’s artists at an extremely windswept M & S Bank Arena.

Despite playing into a slight diagonal breeze, St Colm’s Ballinascreen ran in at half-time in much the better position. Eamon Conway was the star of the show firing points over at will, with Paul Cleary banging home the first half’s only goal. A pacy Martin Bradley incisive run and point opened the scoring for Ballinascreen in the 5th minute.

Derry’s first year back in Masters football, 2023, was certainly one to remember. Masters football (over 40s), of course, is for men of a certain vintage. For players with a few too many miles on the clock. The tired legs may be a tad slower than when once in their prime, but the heart pumps as strongly as ever. And, of course, it offers the opportunity to represent the greatest county in the country if not the world – Derry.
