What was almost as interesting as Davide Ancelotti being linked with the Rangers job earlier in the week was where the news came from. Indeed, it became clear pretty quickly that his name had not been leaked from within the Ibrox club. The reports, which led to some frantic phone calls from those trying to confirm the validity of the story, came out of Spain where Ancelotti is currently assisting his father, Carlo, at Real Madrid.

Police Scotland have already voiced their concerns about the potential for trouble on Saturday in Glasgow city centre as Celtic fans plan to take to the streets once again for a title party. There has yet to be any official comment from the Parkhead club but Glasgow City Council have, finally, released a statement, urging supporters not to congregate in the Merchant City/Trongate areas.

There is little doubt that their fans will celebrate in fulsome fashion at Tannadice if a point or more is gleaned against Dundee United and it will be merited.
