    Good morning, everyone, and happy Monday! After a fairly nice weekend (besides a few showers on Saturday) we're looking to keep the nice weather going through much of this week. In fact, we'll be feeling more like summer towards mid-week... more on that below.     SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) - It's officially peak tick season in Rhode Island, which means everyone should remain vigilant while spending time outside. Thomas Mather, director of the University of Rhode Island's Center for Vector-Borne Disease and the TickEncounter Resource Center, told 12 News the population of ticks across New England is the highest and most diverse it's ever been.

Dr. Ashraf Gomaa, a veterinarian and co-owner of Abbott Animal Hospital, told 12 News humans and their pets often deal with similar symptoms, like intense itching and difficulty breathing.
