Former Gateway Church pastor Robert Morris to make court appearance in Oklahoma Robert Morris, the founder of Southlake-based Gateway Church, one of the nation's largest congregations, appeared before a judge Friday in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, on charges of sexually abusing a child in the 1980s. The hearing was very short. The Osage County, Oklahoma judge acknowledged Morris's presence in the courtroom and set the date for the next hearing, which will be Sept. 4.

Bishop Edward Burns of the Catholic Diocese of Dallas is holding a news conference Thursday afternoon following the announcement of Pope Leo XIV earlier in the day. White smoke poured out of the chimney on top of the Sistine Chapel just after 11 a.m., signaling that the cardinals in the conclave had voted for the new pope. At 12:23 p.m., Cardinal Robert Prevost appeared on the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City as Pope Leo XIV.

The Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office is searching for a murder suspect who was set to go on trial Monday, but removed his ankle monitor. Deputies are searching for Trevor McEuen near US Highway 80 east of Grand Saline, about 65 miles east of Dallas. McEuen faces numerous charges in neighboring Kaufman County, including capital murder, murder and aggravated assault. They stem from the death of Aaron Martinez, who was shot and killed in May of 2023.

Terminal F at DFW International Airport is already expanding, years before it welcomes its first passengers. Airport CEO Sean Donohue announced Thursday that American Airlines plans to invest $4 billion to double the size of the terminal. Construction began in November of 2024 on the initial design of Terminal F, which was to include 15 gates with room for future expansion. Check-in and security were to be contained in an expanded Terminal E, and Terminal F would not have its own parking garage.
