    The Sayyida Zeinab Shia shrine in south Damascus has been left untouched by Syrian rebels, who have not confronted Iraqi paramilitary groups, Iraqi fighters told Middle East Eye. Iraqi Shia paramilitaries said they were not attacked by rebel forces in Syria and have been left to return to Iraq unhindered.

    Iraq's Shia forces, including major Iranian-affiliated armed factions, have unanimously decided not to send fighters to Syria to defend Bashar al-Assad from the rebel advance, officials and commanders told Middle East Eye. Last week, Syrian rebels led by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham launched an offensive on Assad’s forces, seizing the major cities of Aleppo and Hama in a matter of days.

At first glance, it appeared to be a screenshot of news breaking on an Iraqi satellite channel, suggesting that four members of the parliamentary finance committee had tampered with the budget they had voted on days earlier. Most of the MPs didn’t dwell on the message. It’s not uncommon for them to receive such things.

    The head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s Quds Force, Esmail Qaani, has attended events in Tehran marking the return of the body of another general killed in Lebanon alongside Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Qaani could be seen in footage and photos broadcast by Iranian media on Tuesday showing the arrival of Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan’s coffin at the Iranian capital’s Mehrabad Airport.
