The global population has grown significantly in the past century, nearly tripling from about 3 billion in 1950 to 8 billion in 2022. Alongside this population surge, life expectancy has increased from 45.51 years in 1950 to 73.16 years in 2023, with projections indicating it may reach 81.88 years by 2100. However, declining fertility rates and longer lifespans have led to an ageing population.
