Many people like to read historical fiction. But how might they feel about being part of the plot. A play on Patriots' Day, April 21, will give the audience just that chance. Some playgoers may decide to help recreate how local residents reacted on the South Shore after news arrived that the first shots had been fired in Lexington and Concord. Admission is free but the seating is limited. You do have two chances to join in. More: How many Revolutionary War battles happened in MA?

QUINCY − A month ago, when higher tariffs were in the news but not yet in effect, I decided to buy a new car. The mileage on my 2021 Subaru Crosstrek had passed 106,000 and I didn't want to worry about future problems (so far I'd had none) or expensive repairs as the mileage crept up. If I was going to trade it in, now was the best time. 'The tariffs made me do it'I hesitated for a few days and then plunged in. NORWELL − Whether he's teaching how to have snap (turtle) judgment, where to find a fairy shrimp, or magnifying how millipedes move, Jim Spinale, at 91, is a knowledgeable and genial storyteller for all ages. One moment he may be telling staff the story of meeting his wife, Jeanette, in comically unexpected fashion when he was 28. The next, he is impressing preschoolers with a huge snapping turtle shell that makes them go "ooohhh!" Always, Mr. Jim, as the students call him, is enjoying himself.
