A total of 20 vehicles have been seized as part of a police operation into illegal vehicles. Hyndburn Police were out with the DVSA in the Bridge Street area of Hyndburn, as part of their 'Bin the Bangers' operation. Members of the public informed the force there were a number of abandoned and untaxed vehicles in this location. As Bridge Street is a narrow road, the illegal vehicles were causing inconvenience to local businesses and residents.

Customer data was taken by hackers after Marks & Spencer was hit by a damaging cyber attack. The retail giant, which has more than nine million active customers on its website, is among a number of major retailers which have been hit by a damaging attack. Chief executive Stuart Machin said the data had been accessed due to the “sophisticated nature of the incident”. According to M&S, data accessed through this attack could include names, addresses, postal addresses, and dates of birth.

A woman in her 80s has been seriously injured following a crash in Clayton-le-Moors, Accrington. The woman, who was a pedestrian, was involved in a crash with a silver Vauxhall Astra on Whalley Road, near Pickup Street, at 7.30am on Thursday, May 1. She suffered serious injuries to her ribs and is being treated in hospital. The driver of the Vauxhall Astra stopped at the scene, and did not suffer any injuries.

A suspect has been named after a man assaulted a police officer and climbed onto the roof of a shopping centre. Yesterday (Sunday, May 11), officers were called to an incident in Blackpool. At around 6am, police were responding to reports of an assault after two female police officers were assaulted. The officers were not seriously injured but the man did manage to escape the situation. Shortly after, he made his way onto the roof of a nearby building.
