    Port Alberni RCMP continues to investigate after a body was discovered in a local part on Monday, June 16. Police received a call at 5:41 p.m. about a body discovered in Dry Creek Park, which transects uptown Port Alberni from 10th Avenue down to the Alberni Inlet. Access into the dog park and disc golf course were taped off at the Fourth Avenue entrance to the park, as well as at the top of a path on Dunbar Street at Ninth Avenue.

    A new project by Anne Ostwald's Social Justice class at Alberni District Secondary School is taking a visible stand in favour of truth and reconciliation. On June 11, students led a ceremony to officially open a new orange crosswalk on Roger Street in front of the Port Alberni high school. Several guests of honour—all residential school survivors—were the first to symbolically open the crosswalk, which had been painted earlier.
