According to government data on the most recent school admissions cycle, Reading School is the second most wanted school in the county. The boys grammar school was listed as a child’s most preferred school 360 times but only gave out 146 places, meaning almost 60 per cent of these children were turned away. This means children who listed the school as their first preference had a success rate of just 40.6 per cent, compared to 83.2 per cent nationally and 90.8 per cent across Berkshire.

The parade of shops is situated on Crockhamwell Road, a pedestrianised street in Woodley town centre. The shops include a Greggs, the clothing retailer Peacocks, a large grocery store, a takeaway, and a charity shop. There are also two floors of residential properties above the shops. David Margolis, a spokesman for the auction company, called the property a “prime location forming much of Woodley town centre”.

The most recently released police data, covering April, shows that the most common type of crime reported in Reading was ‘violence and sexual offences’. This type of crime accounted for 516 of the 1615 crimes reported in Reading in April, or 32 per cent. The category of violence and sexual offences includes offences against the person such as common assaults, Grievous Bodily Harm, and sexual offences.

10 1/1 Finalists for the first-ever Miss Berkshire pageant have been revealed. This year, for the first time ever, there will be a pageant competition in Berkshire to crown the county’s very own Miss Berkshire. Whoever wins the Miss Berkshire title will then go on to compete in the national pageant, Miss Great Britain – the oldest pageant in the UK.

A man pulled up alongside the teenage girl and “beckoned” for her to come over to his car, according to police. Police said the man did not speak or exit his vehicle, and the girl ran away. The incident happened at around 8:25am on Monday, June 23 on Silverdale Road in Earley, Reading.
