Saddleworth FC have appointed former Oldham Athletic winger David Beresford as the club's first director of football. The 48-year-old, who also played for Huddersfield Town and Hull City, plans to use his expertise and connections in football for the benefit of the club. Beresford will support the progression of the club's junior teams, assist with coaching, and provide guidance to coaches in his new role.

Micky Mellon said lessons had to be learned, and quickly, following a 2-1 defeat at home to relegation battlers Woking. Kian Harratt fired Latics into an early lead after Mike Fondop's initial effort was saved, and Harratt reacted quickest to convert the rebound from close range in the third minute. But after a bright start, fourth placed Oldham went into their shell around the 20-minute mark, and two changes of formation before the break were unsuccessful in snapping them out of it.
