    SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — City Utilities (CU) of Springfield is accusing the technology company 3M of water pollution. The lawsuit, which CU filed this week, claimed 3M has released ‘forever chemicals’ that are making their way into the James River. CU treats the water from James River so residents can use it as drinking water. “I have known for years that that that there’s been pollution in [the water], especially in the James,” Springfield resident Jimmy Spinner said.

    SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Former Missouri State University (MSU) basketball player Abdul-Hakim Fofana is sharing his story six years after a cryotherapy mishap caused career-ending injuries to his feet. Fofana is suing MSU and on Tuesday his lawyers will be in court arguing why this case should not be dismissed. In 2018, the MSU men’s basketball coaching staff arranged for the cryotherapy machine to be brought to the arena on the team’s off day to help the players with their recovery.

    CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Mo. — A judge sentenced Jacob Sayre to a 120-day program in prison after he sold drugs to a 16-year-old who overdosed and died nearly two years ago. Sayre pleaded guilty under a plea agreement in March 2024 to first-degree involuntary manslaughter and delivery of a controlled substance. Court documents said Sayre sold and dropped off what he called ‘perc’ to a 16-year-old girl on the night of September 3, 2022.

    SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The heavy rainfall the Ozarks has experienced over the last few weeks has led to some sinkholes opening in roadways across the area. One sinkhole opened up on Richwood Road in Ozark between Highway 14 and Fremont Road. Ozarksfirst drove by the sinkhole Wednesday and found it was repaired. With more rain on the way, geologists said more of these issues could pop up.

    REPUBLIC, Mo. — A recent string of car break-ins is reminding people to lock their doors. Republic Police received 12 reports Tuesday morning of car break-ins on the southeast side of town. Now officers are looking for a red SUV they believe could be connected to those crimes. “I have left my car unlocked,” Republic resident Crystal Irwin said. “Sometimes I just don’t even think about it because I do feel safe.”Crystal Irwin lives near Basswood Avenue and Ritter Street in southeast Republic.
