    This Memorial Day weekend marked 21 years of Lightning in a Bottle, the eclectic and colorful electronic dance music festival that has hosted an array of artists since its debut in 2004. Attendees could engage in festival activities starting Wednesday, with a headlining set from Honey Dijon on Thursday. Still, many chose to begin their Lightning in a Bottle journey on Friday with James Blake and Lane 8 taking the Lightning stage.

    Babe Rainbow at SLO Brew – May 12Babe Rainbow made a quick return to San Luis Obispo after their last performance in October with a sold-out performance at SLO Brew Rock on May 12. As the group began playing, three tall scrolls standing behind the musicians were illuminated by various still images from film slides. Behind the projections was visual artist Dominic Santos, a sort of hidden star of the show.

    Roughly four hours from Paso Robles resides the iconic wine country of Napa Valley. Napa is well known for its flourishing community of vineyards and wine entrepreneurs and, since May of 2013, the BottleRock Napa Valley music festival. This year’s festival on May 24-26 marked 10 years of the biggest acts in the world coming together in the heart of Napa to celebrate the love of music across a variety of generations.

    When Bruce Flohr was a high school student in Southern California, he had dreams of one day becoming a radio personality. He worked in radio stations as a teenager and knew that would play a role in deciding where to pursue his higher education. When it came time to start touring college campuses, Cal Poly was on the list, but Flohr only ended up staying in one building for the duration of his visit. “I can honestly say I went to Cal Poly specifically for KCPR,” Flohr said.
