After a rainy stretch, Mother's Day is bringing back the sunshine. Clear across the region, and a drier northwest breeze will make for a refreshing feel in the morning. Expect highs in the mid 60s to low 70s, right around or just above normal for this time of year paired with a bit of a breeze, especially in the afternoon. Sunday night turns cool and calm under clear skies, with lows dropping into the 30s and 40s.

A pesky cut-off low will slowly meander over New England this week, bringing on and off rain chances each day - some looking wetter than others. After a damp and chilly start to the week, showers inland continue, especially across western and central Massachusetts. Southeast of I-95, including Boston and the Cape, it will stay mainly dry for much of the day with fog and clouds.

Eight out of the last nine weekends have seen at least a trace of rain on either Saturday or Sunday - or both. That pattern looks to continue, with another unsettled weekend on tap for southern New England. In the meantime, we get a break. Wednesday and Thursday bring plenty of sunshine, with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s inland. Highs both days will be a bit cooler along the coast. Overnight lows drop into the 30s and 40s Wednesday night.

This week begins with absolutely beautiful weather! Monday looks warm and sunny, with highs climbing into the low to mid 70s, well above the normal high of 61 degrees for early May. Winds ease up compared to Sunday, and with bright sunshine and a mild air taking over, it will be a perfect day to enjoy some time outside. Clear skies and calm winds continue Monday night, allowing temperatures to dip into the 40s and 50s overnight.
