Section 13(1) of British Columbia’s (BC) Human Rights Code (Code) prohibits discrimination against a person regarding employment or any term of employment based on a number of enumerated grounds, including family status. The focus of which, within human rights law, has been on parental obligations, although family status can and does encompass a broader group of familial obligations.
