    Police in Gauteng, together with private security companies, rescued a nine-year-old boy who was kidnapped in Laudium, Tshwane. Five suspects, Pakistan and Afghanistan nationals aged between 24 and 37, were arrested. The boy, whose parents are from Afghanistan, was forcefully taken from the home of a friend of his father in Laudium on Tuesday. Police spokesperson Lt-Col Mavela Masondo said the suspects called the parents demanding a ransom.

The KwaZulu-Natal Treasury is gearing up to help Ithala thwart the provisional liquidation application launched against it.     The woman, who is a web designer, was arrested in Houghton on Thursday. Police arrested a second suspect in connection with millions of child pornography videos and photos discovered in Midrand last Friday. On Thursday police arrested a 25-year-old woman who is believed to be the girlfriend of the suspect arrested after an estimated 10-million child pornography images and videos were found at his apartment in Midrand.

    Gauteng police declared Montecasino safe after a bomb threat on Thursday. According to police spokesperson Lt-Col Mavela Masondo, an anonymous caller called the reception and claimed there was a bomb planted at the cinema section. Patrons who were at the cinema were immediately evacuated and the police were called. “The police explosives unit was dispatched to Montecasino after a bomb threat. No bomb was found and the area was declared safe,” he said.
