DISCUSSION In this large-scale retrospective study, we analysed 2791 patients who presented at a specialized nER in a tertiary care hospital in Germany. Ten years after a similar analysis including 1743 nER patients [6], our study still revealed a large proportion of patients presenting with non-acute symptoms without prior contact with health services and with no need for hospitalization.
