AbstractFibrosis-associated fibroblasts have been identified across various fibrotic disorders, but not in the context of biomaterials, fibrotic encapsulation, and the foreign body response. In other fibrotic disorders, a fibroblast subpopulation defined by Thy-1 loss is strongly correlated with fibrosis yet we do not know what promotes Thy-1 loss.

AbstractThe human ability to perceive vivid memories as if they “float” before our eyes, even in the absence of actual visual stimuli, captivates the imagination. To determine the neural substrates underlying visual memories, we investigated the neuronal representation of working memory content in the primary visual cortex of monkeys.

AbstractA long-standing paradigm of arc geochemistry is that the trace element compositions of arc lavas arise from two compositionally distinct slab components: an aqueous dehydration fluid from the subducting igneous ocean crust that transports “fluid-mobile” elements, such as barium (Ba), and a sediment melt that supplies thorium (Th) and the light rare earth elements.
