DiscussionThis study provides detailed estimates of the cost of paediatric asthma from both the NHS and societal perspective, for a population prone to attacks, followed up mainly in secondary care. The cost per attack to the health service (£297) was driven by hospital inpatient admissions, despite only 12% of attacks leading to admission.

I wrote an R package that summarizes recent bioRxiv preprints using a locally running LLM via Ollama+ollamar, and produces a summary HTML report from a parameterized RMarkdown template. AbstractAccurate forecasts can enable more effective public health responses during seasonal influenza epidemics. For the 2021–22 and 2022–23 influenza seasons, 26 forecasting teams provided national and jurisdiction-specific probabilistic predictions of weekly confirmed influenza hospital admissions for one-to-four weeks ahead. Forecast skill is evaluated using the Weighted Interval Score (WIS), relative WIS, and coverage.

AbstractFibrosis-associated fibroblasts have been identified across various fibrotic disorders, but not in the context of biomaterials, fibrotic encapsulation, and the foreign body response. In other fibrotic disorders, a fibroblast subpopulation defined by Thy-1 loss is strongly correlated with fibrosis yet we do not know what promotes Thy-1 loss.

AbstractThe human ability to perceive vivid memories as if they “float” before our eyes, even in the absence of actual visual stimuli, captivates the imagination. To determine the neural substrates underlying visual memories, we investigated the neuronal representation of working memory content in the primary visual cortex of monkeys.
