AUSTIN (KXAN/NEXSTAR) — Where can you find the best barbecue in the country? Well, you could do a lot worse than Texas, according to a new ranking from Yelp. The platform recently ranked the “Top 10 Cities for BBQ in the USA, and two cities from Texas — Austin and San Antonio — topped the list. Austin, coming in at No. 1 in Yelp’s ranking, scored high in metrics focusing on interest, availability and well-reviewed restaurants, according to the site’s analysts.

LUBBOCK, Texas— Eliseo Jimenez, 18, made his way to the Texas state capitol walking 374 miles from Lubbock. What the Lubbock teen didn’t expect, however, was a note from the Texas officials at his arrival. A social media post showed a written note signed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott and State Representative Carl Tepper. The signed note from Rep. Tepper to Lubbock Independent School District on Wednesday, March 26, excused Jimenez from his school absence.

LUBBOCK, Texas— The Lubbock Police Department identified the bicyclist who was seriously injured in Wednesday’s crash in Central Lubbock as 37-year-old Joshua Freed. Officers responded to the 700 block of 34th Street for reports of a collision with injuries at 8:02 a.m. According to LPD, a box truck, driven by 70-year-old Gilbert Harper, and Freed were traveling west in the 700 block of 34th Street. Harper changed lanes and hit Freed, LPD detailed.

SHALLOWATER, Texas— Kailey Diane Ruckman, 35, has been arrested after stabbing a man in Shallowater on Wednesday, a probable cause affidavit obtained by EverythingLubbock.com detailed. Just before 7 a.m., the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call to the 800 block of Avenue U in Shallowater in reference to a Domestic Assault. According to the affidavit, the call was for a victim who had been stabbed in the neck.
