    Schools are almost out for the summer. While many sports and school-year obligations are hitting the pause buttons, local parks and attractions are gearing up for outdoor fun with live music. Here are some unique places to get outside and enjoy outdoor concerts in the Triangle (with many free options for families). Now through September, enjoy free live music every Sunday in Raleigh. Concerts rotate between Fred Fletcher Park and Pullen Park. Concerts are 6-8 p.m. in June and July.

    The most important lesson I learned as a Girl Scout was to always leave the places I’d been, better than it was. No matter if that was our camping site, a troop meeting at somebody’s house, or working on a badge, we were always encouraged to take pride in the world around us and how we treated our surroundings.     I’ll admit it. I’m a “royal junkie.” I have always had a fascination for the royal family. I love learning about the history, pomp and circumstance, and details on their peculiar rules. I remember vividly sobbing when I heard the news of Princess Diana’s death. I was in middle school, about the same age as Prince William. I remember watching him and Harry walk behind her casket feeling so sad for them. Wondering how and why anybody would make them endure that painful walk.

    After nearly four years in business, the indoor play space and children's boutique Alara and Zane will be closing this weekend. Store owner owner Sanaa Alyemeni announced the closing in early January to her email list. "I created this business to bring families together through play, classes, and uniquely curated events (and let's not forget the awesome retail side). It has been a wonderful and challenging journey.
