The Lahore High Court on Thursday twice awarded the capital punishment converted into life imprisonment of a convicted Irfan alias Bablu. A two-member bench headed by Mr. Justice Shehram Sarwar heard the case presented by applicant lawyer Usman Naseem Babu, arguing that a case of killing a woman, Samina, during a robbery has been registered against the convicted in 2008. On February 11, 2010, Session Court, Kasur, awarded him capital punishment.

The Lahore High Court has reserved the bail plea of Muhammad Hamza, a cargo employee accused of smuggling drugs by concealing them in the luggage of departing travelers. Presiding over the matter, Mr. Justice Abdul Aziz heard arguments from Hamza’s counsel, who pointed out that he was arrested on May 9, 2023, has been held in custody for over a year, and remains at the preliminary stage of trial. The defense requested interim bail pending the case’s final resolution.

Mr. Justice Waheed Khan of the Lahore High Court heard the bail extension plea of Hashim Ali, who is accused of taking a USD 1,000 investment in cryptocurrency from Wasim Sajjad, a resident of Faisalabad. The accused lawyer, Shakeelur Rehman, informed the court that the plaintiff had transferred the said amount through his bank account to Hashim Ali, who is also a resident of Faisalabad.
